How to Transcribe Audio Files via YouTube, Dropbox & More

PreventingRepetitive-Motion-Injury-2

Here at TranscribeMe, we get a lot of questions about the best ways to submit files, whether we accept specific formats, and everything that needs to be done in order to speed up the transcription process.

So, today we want to offer a comprehensive look at our submission options, as well as a detailed walk through on all the options you have when using us.

From Your Phone:
TranscribeMe Mobile App
If you’ve downloaded our app from the iTunes or Google Play stores, then there’s no need to worry about special submission instructions. Simply record, upload, and transcribe, straight from your phone.

From Your Computer:
For those of you that have larger files that need to be transferred from your computer to our database, we currently accept the following file formats: wav, mp3, mp4, ogg, aiff, aif, m4a, mov, wma, avi, flv, mp4, 3gp, amr.

Most audio files come in one of these formats, but if you have a different type of file, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do, as we’re constantly adding new formats to our system.

Special Submissions:
The prior methods assume that you have the original audio files on your computer, that the files are small enough to upload to our site in a relatively short amount of time, and/ or that you have very few files to transcribe. The following options should answer any questions about other types of submissions we accept.

YouTube
For those of you who don’t have the original file, but have the YouTube link, you’re in luck. If you’re relatively tech savvy, you can download the YouTube audio then upload it from your desktop. If you don’t know how to do that, or if you have several files that need to be processed, simply send us the link(s) at submit@transcribeme.com and we can process them for you. Remember to include contact details if this is your first time using us!

Dropbox
For those of you that have a Dropbox account and would like to send us multiple files at once, please contact our sales team at hello@transcribeme.com and we’ll create a shared Dropbox folder for you. After that, you’re free to upload as many files as you please and/ or invite others to the folder to upload their own files. Your transcripts will be sent to you by e-mail.

FTP
If you’re interested in using an FTP server to upload your audio files, please contact our sales team at sales@transcribeme.com and we’ll create a dedicated server for you. After that, we’ll send you your login information and you’re free to upload your files at will. We’ll send you your transcripts in the manner in which you prefer and/ or by e-mail.

API
If you or your company has extensive transcription needs, our tech team will work with your organization to integrate TranscribeMe onto your company’s website through an API. Please visit our API page to fill out the contact form to get started or for additional details.

Evernote:
If you use Evernote, you first need to go through the process of linking your accounts, then either drop your Evernote audio note into the TranscribeMe folder, or tag it with a “TranscribeMe” tag.

In short, we make it easy for you to submit your audio files so that you can focus on what you do best. Please let us know if there’s any way for us to improve our service. We love to hear any and all feedback!
